Some Benefits Of Organic Clothes

By David Green

Even with our understanding of the damage that unsustainable habits can have the earth, deciding to adopt environmentally sound activities is not always so simple to do. And yet, a growing number of individuals and organizations are making an effort to become more responsible. For example, solar energy is becoming more easy to adopt. Additionally, there are plenty of little things that everyday people can implement to support the environment. One of those things is to wear organic clothing.

You might be familiar with organic food, but you are not so familiar with organic clothing. What makes something organic? Whenever we refer to organic items, we mean the ones that aren't adding chemical pesticides and fertilizers to the soil. This helps maintain all the creatures within nature.

Traditionally grown cotton is the most common textile, and regrettably it's also the crop with the single largest negative impact on the ecosystem. Are you aware that 25% of all pesticides are used on cotton crops?

Organic cotton, on the other hand, is produced without the use of chemical pesticides or fertilizers. Instead, the cotton is grown through natural means. More organic materials such as hemp and bamboo are also eco friendly natural fibers for organic clothing.

A crucial benefit of organic clothing is that it is more mild on your skin. Since the garments don't contain residue of dangerous chemicals, they won't trigger skin allergies. Additionally, bamboo fabric is naturally antibacterial.

Any time we decide on organic clothing, we reduce the concentration of chemical pollutants finding their way into the soil and water. Conventional farm practices cause untold amounts of harmful chemicals to penetrate the land and spread to the watershed. That is a growing source of health complications in these times. But when we select organic clothes, we will be supporting the efforts of organic farming practices that don't harm the environment.

Many organic clothing fabrics such as hemp and bamboo are extremely durable. They hold up to many wash cycles and last longer than clothing from ordinary fabrics.

Each time we decide to buy eco friendly apparel, we are improving the lives of all the workers who grow clothing fiber crops. Their communities and families are safe from an exposure to a toxic influx of chemicals that can result from large scale agricultural practices.

Considering all these advantages, it should be no surprise that more clothing designers are making a change over to manufacturing organic clothing.
